The quadrangle of Milan breathed in some air from the Amalfi Coast, bringing luxury to a different kind of cause. In fact, on the 26th of March, an important charity event was held at the Four Seasons Hotel to benefit LILT, Lega Italiana per la Lotta ai Tumori (the Italian Association for the Fight Against Cancer), and was sponsored by Chantecler, Lagostina, Loro Piana, Dompè Biotec, Tod's, Tecnogym and Unicoal, among others.
A non-profit, public organisation, LILT, under the Chairmanship of Professor Gianni Ravasi, works for cancer prevention through public awareness campaigns and education in the field of healthcare. LILT follows a singular, important objective: to win the fight against cancer by promoting a culture of prevention (as a lifestyle), which is both primary (the diffusion of correct lifestyle habits, proper nutrition, cessation of tobacco use, and battling environmental and workplace cancer-causing agents), and secondary (early diagnosis of the most common types of cancers: breast, cervical, prostate, mouth and skin), also through the more than 350 LILT Outpatient Clinics present in the provinces throughout Italy. After all, LILT has always considered prevention to be its number one institutional duty and is represented in the organization’s slogan, “Prevention is Life”. As of today, prevention still represents the most effective weapon in the fight against cancer. This is confirmed by data that shows a reduced mortality for some forms of tumours and a longer and more improved quality of life for oncology patients.
The evening, which was organised by the journalist Mariella Boerci in collaboration with Laura Morino Teso, was a huge success: it was attended by a variety of personalities from industry, finance and journalism in a worldly setting that featured the music and dance of Anema e Core by Guido Lembo, the iconic figure of nights spent on the Island of Capri, and the flavours and scents from the kitchens of the renowned chef of the Capri Palace Hotel, Oliver Glowing, in collaboration with Sergio Mei of the Four Seasons.
